Letter of Response

This letter is going to be the first of many from me to you. The content will revolve around your responses to my questions I presented to you by 119 Ministries (www.testeverything.net) and their article If Christ Did Away with the Law and the video responses you took the time to make. I took the liberty of downloading the videos you posted on You-tube to my computer so I could takes notes and really unpack what you have said. I am actually quite grateful that you took the time to make the videos. It tells me a great deal about what you believe and why you believe it. It also indicates to me that at some level you are willing to share with others what you believe. In the first video you recorded you were responding to the question:

If Christ did away with the Law, then why did He say that He didn’t?

The passage of the Bible that was being referred to for the question was Matthew 5:17 which says the following:

"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy
but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or tittle
will by no means pass away from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks
one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the
kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the
          kingdom of heaven."

Here was your response:

The Law of Moses began to pass away when it was nailed to the cross. Two Covenants were in place between 30 and 70AD. The New Covenant was completely established at 30AD on the cross. The Old Covenant Promises were partially fulfilled in 30 AD by the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the remainder of the fulfillment of the Law of Moses types and shadows were fulfilled by the year 70AD. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17-18 “I have not come to destroy but to fulfill.” In other words; to accomplish its requirements. As I said it took 40 years to fulfill all Old Testament Promises which began in 30 AD with Jesus as the Paschal Lamb and the First Fruits being fulfilled. A will cannot go into effect until a testator dies then it goes into effect. Hebrews 9:17. For a will take effect only at death since it has no power at all while the testator is alive. Thus the New Covenant began at the cross. When a person makes a promise and when keeps that promise it is said that they fulfilled that promise, not that they did away with that promise. In Hebrews 9 it begins speaking about the first covenant and goes on to describe in verse 15 He is the Mediator of the New Covenant. Christ cannot be a mediator of the Old Covenant called the Law of Moses because only Levitical Priests were allowed to Mediate the Law of Moses as recorded in Hebrews 7:12. “For when there is a change in the Priesthood there is a change in the law as well. Heb 7:12 All requirements of the Law of Moses Types and Shadows were not accomplished until the promises to the Old Testament Saints were completed.

Friends I am going to begin with her very first sentence. You will also notice I show the NIV as well as the KJV and the Greek. The reason for this is the person to whom I have written this book studies primarily with the NIV. Hopefully this will benefit them; and her at the same time. This passage is frequently abused in error to say Messiah has done away with Torah for the Christian.

She asserts that the Law of Moses began to pass away when it was nailed to the cross. Although she didn’t quote it directly we can infer she is referring to the passage in Colossians 2:14 or its sister passage in Ephesians 2:14 I will begin with 2:13 to keep the full sentence in context which says the following:

“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made
     you
alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its
regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away nailing it to the
     cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 (NIV)

"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive
together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasseshaving wiped out the handwriting of
requirements that was against us which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way,
having nailed it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 (NKJV)

Let’s look together at these two verse in the Greek Textus Rectus since the original text of Colossians was NOT written in NIV English or King James shall we? Since I don’t know if you have ever done this; please don’t take offense at my instruction. To read this, simply take note of the order. Greek reads from left to right as does English. The first word is Greek (in black) followed by the Strong’s # and then the English (in Bold Black). I have highlighted specific words for a purpose and we will get to those in a bit. For now just read the English.

Now, before you flip out over taking a look at the Greek just take a deep breath. The first time I really began to dissect the Greek it was rather difficult and frustrating. Which is precisely why most just don’t do it. My suggestion is to get a really good software program such as  E-SWORD which is FREE!!! The version I have includes a Hebrew Interlinear Old Testament and Greek Interlinear New Testament along with Concordances, Lexicons, Dictionaries and I currently have 20 different versions of the Bible to make comparisons with.

This is a screenshot I took of verse 14 from Biblos.com. It is another FREE program that I utilize. This one is however web based where E-Sword is actually on your hard drive so you can access it anywhere. Both programs have features I like which is why I utilize them. They each include a lot of really great Bible Study tools.

You will notice several words that need to really be examined “exaleipsas;” “cheirographon,” “dogmasin;” and “proselosas.” We are going to take a closer look at them beginning with “Cheirographon” since it is the word used for the thing that is actually nailed to the cross.

Many have been taught by false teachers that the “written code” is the Law of Moses (the Torah) which "began to pass away;" or has "passed away." By asserting that the "written code" is the Torah it gives them what they believe to be "scriptural evidence" that Jesus has done away with the necessity for His followers to actually be obedient to the instructions of Yahweh. This false teaching happens to be one the the main reasons Jew reject Jesus as presented by modern Christianity. However in the New Testament it is CLEAR that there were many Jews who accepted Yeshua as being Messiah. There is a REASON for that my friends. The REASON is that what is presented today about Jesus is NOT what was presented to the Jews following the resurrection of Messiah.

I'm going to assert strenuously to you that there are many, many, many false doctrines that have infiltrated the Church leading followers away from the true Messiah only to fawn after a false version that cannot and will not lead them to salvation. Only the authentic Messiah has the power and authority to forgive your sins and proclaim you righteous on the last day.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:21 we are admonished to “Test all things; hold fast to what is good.” Come with me as we do that. Walk with me as we “test” to see if the assertion that the “cheirographion” or “written code” is the Law of Moses which was nailed to the cross or not. I tell you the truth unless you know the truth you cannot discern the lie. Come and hear what you were never told. Learn how to study to show yourselves approved so that no man (or woman) may deceive you.
