Enmity Comes From???

IF ENMITY IS NOT FROM THE TORAH 

THEN WHERE IS IT FROM?

     

Having formerly been a Catholic School student for four years; two of which were at Bishop McGuinness High School in Oklahoma City, I had heard of Martin Luther the Reformer. At the time I couldn't have cared less about studying the Bible; so much so that I earned a "D" in Theology the year I had Sister Sanchez. 

At the time I was a member of the Protestant faith attending a Methodist congregation (Church of the Servant); and, had learned that Luther helped men break away from the corruption of the Catholic Faith; returning to a more pure form, so I thought.

I can recall back in 2003 when the film Luther came out; going to the theater with other members of our home fellowship in Murrieta. The part of the film that was most powerful was when Joseph Fiennes who plays Luther goes to Rome. While there he witnesses other monks engage in prostitution; encounters a man selling miniature statues of all the "saints;" kneels as Pope Julius rides past him in a golden suit of armor; visits a sepulcher that supposedly houses the head of John the Baptist where he kneels praying; and, venerating the skull on a red pillow with golden trim. He is hurried along by another monk watching over because of the very long line of others seeking to do the same. The monk tells him "Fast or slow you will get your 500 years" Apparently some early release program from purgatory the Catholics concocted along with the doctrine of purgatory itself. In the next scene we see Luther enthusiastically purchase an "indulgence" for his grandfather Hendrick Luther. He is instructed by a monk who taps the coffer several times as if to say "pay up" then tells him to say an "our father" prayer on every step; and, that upon his reaching the top he will be released from Purgatory; and, into the gates of Heaven. In the scene there is a small multitude of people praying upon the stairs seeking their relatives to be released from purgatory. 

Luther has a moment of clarity realizing the farce; and, at the top he crumples the indulgence he purchased letting it drop to the ground. He is a man who is changed by the experience of Rome realizing the Catholic Church is not the good; or, right path they make themselves out to be. Several weeks after his return; he is speaking to a higher ranking monk whom he calls "Father" while scrubbing the tiles in a hallway:

         "Rome is a circus, a running sewer, you can buy anything--sex, salvation.

         They have brothels just for clerics...One church had the coins for which
         Judas sold our LORD, 100 years off purgatory for kissing each one..."

His disdain is bitter; and, it is clear he is conflicted; offended; and, angry. The two men have a conversation in the garden where it becomes clear from their conversation Luther has NOT read the New Testament at this point. Based upon the practices of the Catholic Church I seriously doubt he had read the Old Testament either at that point. He is sent off to school where he is educated receiving his Doctorate in Theology. While there, he learns that according to Catholicism, there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church. Obviously, this dialogue and the events are a film; taking events which may or may not have occurred and sensationalizing them for the big screen. However, what is not sensationalized are the words Luther penned when he wrote (Von den Juden und Ihren Lügen) On Jews and Their Lies just three years before his death. Nor is it sensationalism to quote him directly from his other work (Vom Schem Hamphoras und vom Geschlecht Christi ) Of The Unknowable Name and The Generations of Christ. Bear in mind that just because Luther himself felt this way does NOT mean that ALL Lutherans feel this way. Here are some of the more breathtaking examples of enmity from Luther towards Jews.

         "...Now just behold these miserable, blind, and senseless people... Therefore
         be on your guard against the Jews, knowing that wherever they have their
         synagogues, nothing is found but a den of devils in-which sheer self-glory,
         conceit, lies, blasphemy, and defaming of God and men are practiced
         most maliciously and vehming his eyes on them. (On Jews and Their Lies)

Luther asserts that everything is wrong with Jews and their synagogues which according to him would be inclusive of the written Torah of Moses; the very  instructions of (YAHUAH). I ask you this IF they are indeed blind, leading the blind how are we to handle them? Did not Messiah himself instruct us about the Pharisees to "leave them alone?"

         "Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads
         the blind, both will fall into a ditch." Matthew 15:14

He also warns that they are doing something specific:

         "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the
         kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you
         allow those who are entering to go in." Matthew 23:13

The Pharisees then; just as Christians today, were trying to spread the Word of God were also engaged in developing converts Matthew 23:15:

        "But woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and
         sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a
         son of hell as yourselves." 

I will assert to you that Orthodox, conservative, and even reform Judaism are today descended from the faith of the Pharisees. They are guilty of violating the commandment given by (YAHUAH) through his servant Moses in Deuteronomy 4:2 in spectacular fashion.

        "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that
         you may keep the commandments of the LORD (YAHUAH) your God which
         I commanded you."

We find this command repeated in another form later in Deuteronomy 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; by Messiah in Revelation 22:18. 

Deuteronomy 12:32:

         "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; 

         you shall not add to it nor take away from it."

Proverbs 30:6:     

          "Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar."

Revelation 22:18: 

        "For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:
         If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are
         written in this book..."

Later we shall learn about HOW they shut the kingdom from themselves; and, from those seeking entry. If they are under condemnation it is not our place to punish them. 

If anything we should live in a way that will cause them to SEE their own error; not compound it! Luther was not content in leaving them be; no, instead he furthered his madness; and, continued his poisonous rant which would later influence the Führer of Germany hundreds of years in the future in a satanic quest to do what Luther had only dared to write or to say. 

Sample Luther's venom:

         "Who will take them to task here for their error or mistake?... From their
         youth they have imbibed such venomous hatred against the Goyim from their
         parents and their rabbis, and they still continuously drink it...Someone may
         think that I am saying too much. I am not saying too much, but too little - for
         I see their writings. They curse us Goyim. In their synagogues and in their
         prayers they wish us every misfortune. They rob us of our money and goods
         through their usury, and they play on us every wicked trick they can. And the
         worst of it is that they still claim to have done right and well, that is, to have
         done God a service. And they teach the doing of such things. No pagan ever
         acted thus; in fact, no one acts thus except the devil himself, or whomever he
         possesses, as he has possessed the Jews...

          ...especially since we did not consult their rabbis, Talmudists, and
         Kokhbaites whom they regard as more authoritative than all of Scripture...

        They wish that sword and war, distress and every misfortune may overtake us
         accursed Goyim. They vent their curses on us openly every Saturday in
         their synagogues and daily in their homes. They teach, urge, and train their
         children from infancy to remain the bitter, virulent, and wrathful enemies of
         the Christians...

         They have been blood-thirsty bloodhounds and murderers of all Christendom
         for more than fourteen hundred years in their intentions, and would
         undoubtedly prefer to be such with their deeds. Thus they have been accused
         of poisoning water and wells, of kidnapping children, of piercing them
         through with an awl, of hacking them in pieces, and in that way secretly
         cooling their wrath with the blood of Christians, for all of which they have
         often been condemned to death by fire...

         What shall we Christians do with this rejected; and condemned people, the
         Jews? 

        Since they live among us, we dare not tolerate their conduct, now that we

        are aware of their lying and reviling and blaspheming. If we do, we become
        sharers in their lies, cursing; and blasphemy. Thus we cannot extinguish the
        unquenchable fire of divine wrath, of which the prophets speak, nor can we
        convert the Jews. With prayer and the fear of God we must practice a                    sharp mercy to see whether we might save at least a few from the glowing
        flames. We dare not avenge ourselves. Vengeance a thousand times worse
        than we could wish them already has them by the throat. 

         I shall give you my sincere advice:

         First, to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with

         dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or
         cinder of them. This is to be done in honor of our Lord and of Christendom,
         so that God might see that we are Christians, and do not condone or
         knowingly tolerate such public lying, cursing, and blaspheming of his Son
         and of his Christians...

         Second, I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed. For they
         pursue in them the same aims as in their synagogues. Instead, they might be
         lodged under a roof or in a barn, like the gypsies. This will bring home to
         them the fact that they are not masters in our country, as they boast, but that
         they are living in exile and in captivity, as they incessantly wail and

         lament about us before God. 

         Third, I advise that all their prayer books and Talmudic writings, in which

         such idolatry, lies, cursing, and blasphemy are taught, be taken from them. 

        Fourth, I advise that their rabbis be forbidden to teach henceforth on pain of

        loss of life and limb. For they have justly forfeited the right to such an office

        by holding the poor Jews captive with the saying of Moses (Deuteronomy
        17:10) in which he commands them to obey their teachers on penalty of
        death, although Moses clearly adds: "what they teach you in accord with

        the law of the Lord." Those villains ignore that. They wantonly employ the

        poor people's obedience contrary to the law of the Lord and infuse them with

        this poison, cursing, and blasphemy. In the same way, the pope also held us

        captive with the declaration in Matthew 16:18, "You are Peter," etc., inducing

        us to believe all the lies and deceptions that issued from his devilish mind.

        He did not teach in accord with the word of God, and therefore he forfeited

        the right to teach. 

        Fifth, I advise that safe conduct on the highways be abolished completely for

        the Jews. For they have no business in the countryside since they are not

        lords, officials, tradesmen, or the like. Let them stay at home. I have heard it

        said that a rich Jew is now traveling across the country with twelve horses

        his ambition is to become a Kokhba devouring princes, lords, lands, and

        people with his usury, so that the great lords view it with jealous eyes. If you

        great lords and princes will not forbid such usurers the highway legally, some

        day a troop may gather against them, having learned from this booklet the

        true nature of the Jews and how one should deal with them and not protect

        their activities. For you, too, must not and cannot protect them unless you

        wish to become participants in their abominations in the sight of God.

        

         Consider carefully what good could come from this, and prevent it. 

         Seventh, I recommend putting a flail, an ax, a hoe, a spade, a distaff, or a

         spindle into the hands of young, strong Jews and Jewesses and letting

         them earn their bread in the sweat of their brow, as was imposed on the

         children of Adam (Gen. 3 [:19]). For it is not fitting that they should let us

         accursed Goyim toil in the sweat of our faces while they, the holy people,

         idle away their time behind the stove, feasting and farting, and on top of all,

         boasting blasphemously of their lordship over the Christians by means of

         our sweat. No, one should toss out these lazy rogues by the seat of their

         pants.

         My advice, as I said earlier, is:

         First, that their synagogues be burned down, and that all who are able toss in

         sulphur and pitch; it would be good if someone could also throw in some

         hellfire. That would demonstrate to God our serious resolve and be evidence

         to all the world that it was in ignorance that we tolerated such houses, in

         which the Jews have reviled God, our dear Creator and Father, and his Son

         most shamefully up till now, but that we have now given them their due

         reward.

          Second, that all their books their prayer books, their Talmudic writings, also

         the entire Bible, be taken from them, not leaving them one leaf, and that

         these be preserved for those who may be converted. For they use all of these

         books to blaspheme the Son of God, that is, God the Father himself, Creator

         of heaven and earth, as was said above; and they will never use them

         differently.

         Third, that they be forbidden on pain of death to praise God, to give thanks,

         to pray, and to teach publicly among us and in our country. They may do this

         in their own country or wherever they can without our being obliged to hear

         it or know it. The reason for this prohibition is that their praise, thanks,

         prayer, and doctrine are sheer blasphemy, cursing, and idolatry, because their

         heart and mouth call God the Father *Hebel Vorik* as they call his Son,

         our Lord Jesus, this.  For as they name and honor the Son, thus they also
         name and honor the Father. It does not help them to use many fine words and

         to make much ado about the name of God. For we read, "You shall not take

         the name of the Lord your God in vain" [Exod. 20:7]. 

        Just as little did it avail their ancestors at the time of the kings of Israel that

        they bore God's name, yet called him Baal.

        Fourth, that they be forbidden to utter the name of God within our hearing.

        For we cannot with a good conscience listen to this or tolerate it, because their

        blasphemous and accursed mouth and heart call God's Son *Hebel Vorik,*

        and thus also call his Father that. He cannot and will not interpret this

        otherwise, just as we Christians too cannot interpret it otherwise, we who

        believe that however the Son is named and honored thus also the Father is

        named and honored. Therefore we must not consider the mouth of the Jews

        as worthy of uttering the name of God within our hearing. He who hears this

        name-from a Jew must inform the authorities, or else throw sow dung at him

        when he sees him and chase him away. And may no one be merciful and kind

        in this regard, for God's honor and the salvation of us all, including that of 

        the Jews, are at stake!

What you have just read is almost three full pages of text which came from a document that was ninety-one (91) pages of 10 pt font that was pregnant with satanic filled vitriol and hate. The portions I have shared with you are among the most vile and reprehensible things to be penned by someone professing to be a follower of Messiah. 

For a man who was so desperate to uphold the New Testament; twenty-seven (27) books that assert we are to "love" even those who hate us, Luther failed miserably in his mission. He failed to finish the race well; and, I suspect he will find himself naked and ashamed in the day of judgment. May YAHUAH be merciful upon his soul. 

As obvious as this is that Luther's rant against Jews was fueled by enmity; it is NOT the specific source the New Testament is alluding to. It MUST have been something that existed at the time of Messiah which contained enmity. Let us next examine a brief history of enmity throughout history towards the "Jew."
